The Science Coalition was formed 20 years ago by a handful of universities with a singular goal of strengthening federal support for basic scientific and engineering research. Today, with some 60 major research universities as members, we continue to work toward this goal by telling the stories of what federally funded university research has made possible.
SCIENCE 2034 is an initiative by The Science Coalition to mark our 20th anniversary by looking forward 20 years and focusing on the possibilities of the future.
While we don’t know what the next “Big Thing” will be, we can make some educated predictions about how well-funded scientific research might change our lives and our world. We are asking scientists, policymakers and thought leaders to weigh in and tell us what they think science will enable 20 years from now and what that will mean to individuals, society and the world. We will post these commentaries on our SCIENCE2034.org blog, and share them widely through social and conventional media.
